TESLA Satisfies the Demanding Needs of Alaska Electric Light & Power

Designed to be multi-functional, quickly installed & easy to use, NxtPhase relays & recorders are delighting customers. Utilities, such as Alaska Electric Light & Power (AEL&P), are using NxtPhase products in demanding applications to recognize cost savings & optimize power flow.

Christy Yearous, PE of AEL&P writes, "Earlier this year we purchased two TESLA recorders to replace existing disturbance recorders. We were able to complete the installation of the recorders within a week & the programming took no more than a couple of hours. We are extremely satisfied with the product & have been using it extensively since the installation was completed in July."

The TESLA recorder offers simultaneous fault, dynamic swing, trend, & event recording. New fault location capabilities are also available. In a single platform, TESLA provides information to analyze everything from system faults & motor starts to longer term effects such as line power factor.

According to Ms. Yearous, "The sampling rate allows transients to be recorded & analyzed. The swing records allow system dynamics to be studied & help us to better understand our power flow. We have also been using the trend functions to perform logging functions. All of this information can easily be graphed or exported to other Windows programs."

AEL&P used TESLA's advanced communications options to optimize the speed with which records are transferred. "We use the Ethernet connection & have the TESLA on our WAN, which makes it accessible & easy to download records or to change programming," writes Ms. Yearous.

By fully utilizing the functionality of their TESLA recorders, Alaska Light & Power maximize their return on investment. Additional benefits will be realized from the reliable performance & expert customer service they have come to expect from NxtPhase.
